About The Position

The Allied Health Technician works in conjunction with the Allied Health classroom instructor(s) to provide a range of assistive functions within the secondary learning environment at the Muskegon Area Career Tech Center. This role supports daily educational operations, student supervision in lab settings, curriculum delivery, record keeping, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

• Five years or more (minimum 4000 hours) recent related work experience.
• An awareness, familiarity, and/or comfort with the healthcare career pathways. This includes: Diagnostic Services, Therapeutic Services, Health Informatics, Support Services, and Biotechnology Research and Development.
• An ability to work comfortably and effectively with high school students in lab and/or classroom environments.
• Knowledge of careers and technology in the field of healthcare.
• Possession of effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to qualify for Annual Career Authorization based on adequate work experience.
• No physical or mental restrictions that would, with reasonable accommodation, prevent performance of the essential job functions and responsibilities.
• CTC Technicians must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective relationships with the instructor, students, parents, and other CTC team members.

Nice To Haves

• An Associate’s Degree or related training or college classes.
• Successful experience as a professional working with secondary students and/or classrooms.

Responsibilities

• Assists the lead classroom instructor in the daily educational operations and functions of the Allied Health program.
• Sets up, supervises and assists students who are working in a lab/shop environment.
• Works with the classroom instructor in the delivery of program curriculum and the monitoring of students.
• Assists the instructors in the areas of record keeping, instructional preparation, lab organization and upkeep.
• Works with special needs students on a one-to-one basis, as necessary.
• Assists in the supervision and documentation of student performance and progress.
• Participates in professional development activities related to the job description.
• Assists in the maintenance, repair, and organization of classroom equipment and materials.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the classroom instructor.
