About The Position

Southern Tire Mart is seeking a skilled Alignment Mechanic to join their team. This role is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including brakes, steering & suspension, HVAC systems, drivetrains, and electrical systems. The position also involves performing preventative maintenance inspections, fleet inspections, and scheduled maintenance. The mechanic will operate diagnostic tools, perform tire-related services, and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS). Record-keeping, adherence to safety regulations, and shop organization are also key aspects of the role. Roadside service calls may be required. This is a full-time position with opportunities for career growth within a leading commercial fleet services company.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (trade school certification a plus)
  • Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or heavy truck mechanic preferred
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability
  • Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids)
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Willingness to work in varying conditions (weather, noise, physical demands)
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Overtime maybe required

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including: Brakes, Steering & Suspension, HVAC systems, Drivetrains, Electrical systems
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections
  • Conduct fleet inspections and perform scheduled maintenance
  • Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately
  • Perform tire-related services as needed (mounting, balancing, repairing)
  • Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS)
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and DOT regulations
  • Respond to roadside service calls using a company service truck (F-350), when required
  • Assist with parts inventory and shop organization
  • Complete other duties as assigned
