About The Position
Southern Tire Mart is seeking a skilled Alignment Mechanic to join their team. This role is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including brakes, steering & suspension, HVAC systems, drivetrains, and electrical systems. The position also involves performing preventative maintenance inspections, fleet inspections, and scheduled maintenance. The mechanic will operate diagnostic tools, perform tire-related services, and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS). Record-keeping, adherence to safety regulations, and shop organization are also key aspects of the role. Roadside service calls may be required. This is a full-time position with opportunities for career growth within a leading commercial fleet services company.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (trade school certification a plus)
- Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or heavy truck mechanic preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability
- Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids)
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Willingness to work in varying conditions (weather, noise, physical demands)
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Overtime maybe required

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including: Brakes, Steering & Suspension, HVAC systems, Drivetrains, Electrical systems
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections
- Conduct fleet inspections and perform scheduled maintenance
- Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately
- Perform tire-related services as needed (mounting, balancing, repairing)
- Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS)
- Maintain detailed records of work performed
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and DOT regulations
- Respond to roadside service calls using a company service truck (F-350), when required
- Assist with parts inventory and shop organization
- Complete other duties as assigned
