  • Master’s Degree or 1-2 years of relevant work experience (including relevant undergraduate coop experience)
  • Experience related to the application of medical navigation or optical tracking systems
  • Understanding of spatial geometry (coordinate systems, transformations, visualizations, etc)
  • A well-rounded individual, with particular interest in, experience with, and passion for understanding: Math (3D transformations, linear algebra, linear/non-linear optimizations, machine learning, computer navigation, statistics)
  • Programming (Python, visualizations, UI, MATLAB, JS, C++)
  • Medical Imaging (MRI, CT, X-ray, C-Arm, 3D Slicer, Mimics, DICOM, DRRs)
  • Biomedical/ Clinical Engineering (surgery, biomechanics, medical robotics, image guidance, 3D printing)
  • Image processing (segmentation, edge detection, object localization, computer vision)
  • 3D Modeling/CAD (Solidworks, OnShape)
  • Passionate about creatively solving problems with practical solutions
  • Comfortable working outside your area of expertise
  • Exposure to a variety of surgical contexts (surgical observation, orthopaedics, cadaver labs)

Responsibilities

  • Conceive, prototype, implement, and test algorithms to solve clinical problems relating to image processing, computer vision, and spatial registration.
  • Investigate and enable clinical applications of the IJX navigation system
  • Develop and manage data interfaces with medical imaging equipment
  • Create system-level prototypes, including algorithms, UI/UX, and mechanical instrumentation
  • Design and realization (e.g., 3D printing, machining) of prototypes and test phantoms
  • Support algorithm implementation during formal product development
  • Provide product design leads with information necessary to make informed decisions on design choices through the development and execution of test protocols and test phantoms, and data simulation and analysis, with clear and effective documentation of methodologies, results, and conclusions
