The role seeks passionate, knowledgeable, and reliable senior algebra tutors to work one-on-one with students in Richmond. Tutors will support academic success in subjects like general science, biology, chemistry, physics, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus, and other STEM-related areas, tailoring instruction to individual learning styles to build confidence and mastery.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Meet at least one of the following: Hold a valid Virginia State teaching certificate (or equivalent from another state); Currently enrolled in a teacher certification program; Have 2+ years of experience teaching in a private, public, or charter school; Have experience as a lecturer or course instructor at an accredited U.S. college or university; Are a Master’s or PhD student with experience as a teaching assistant at a U.S. university or college.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic support in science and/or math aligned with Virginia’s curriculum standards.
  • Design and deliver customized tutoring sessions in STEM subjects.
  • Offer remedial or enrichment instruction based on each student’s needs.
  • Assign supplemental materials to enhance understanding and retention.
  • Maintain open communication with parents/guardians to report on student progress and goals.
