About The Position

Serve as a classroom teacher in the Mathematics Department, specifically teaching Algebra 2, and ensure student growth and achievement goals are met as defined by the Principal. Foster adaptive and collaborative relationships across the Helix community while supporting the vision of Helix Aviation Academy and maximizing the impact of its mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (required)
  • Valid Louisiana teaching certification in Mathematics or eligibility to obtain one
  • Strong understanding of Algebra 2 concepts and instructional strategies
  • Ability to adapt and grow professionally to meet evolving educational needs
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all compliance requirements
  • Promote a respectful and inclusive, harassment-free environment
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships and contribute to a team-oriented culture
  • Proficiency in using technology, educational software, and digital tools in instruction
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and exercise sound judgment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching high school mathematics, preferably Algebra 2 (preferred)
  • Advanced degree (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Teach Algebra 2 content and skills aligned to appropriate grade-level and state standards.
  • Plan and implement instruction that supports advanced algebraic concepts, including functions, polynomials, exponential and logarithmic relationships, and systems of equations.
  • Develop purposeful lesson plans that incorporate effective teaching strategies and maximize instructional time.
  • Present mathematical concepts using real-world, application-based examples to deepen student understanding.
  • Review student records to understand individual learning needs and maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Differentiate instruction using a variety of learning modalities to support diverse learners.
  • Use frequent diagnostic and formative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Identify student strengths and areas for growth, provide targeted support, and generate progress reports as required.
  • Prepare students for state-required assessments and ensure mastery of Algebra 2 standards.
  • Assign, assess, and provide feedback on student work, including problem-solving tasks and mathematical reasoning.
  • Collaborate with support personnel to address students with identified or suspected learning needs.
  • Stay current in mathematics content knowledge and instructional best practices, contributing to continuous curriculum improvement.
  • Create a classroom environment that is engaging, structured, and conducive to learning.
  • Build positive relationships with students while maintaining high expectations and supporting academic growth.
  • Ensure the classroom is safe, organized, and reflective of student learning.
  • Implement school policies related to student behavior consistently and fairly.
  • Establish and maintain clear classroom procedures that promote respect and accountability.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with Algebra 2 standards and instructional goals.
  • Plan individual and group learning activities to meet diverse student needs.
  • Demonstrate preparedness for instruction and provide documentation when requested.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning and professional learning communities.
  • Incorporate IEP accommodations and modifications into instructional planning as required.
  • Maintain and protect instructional materials, supplies, and classroom resources.
