About The Position

A leading digital streaming network seeks an Alerts Editor to write and send mobile push alerts for its sports app, covering breaking news and live sports storylines. The editor helps shape the app’s alert voice and pace through journalistic and promotional storytelling, supporting sports rights partnerships and providing fans with key information. This role works with an alerts and content programming team to balance editorial decisions, promotional requirements, and data-driven analysis of audience behavior. The position is onsite in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (preferred), or New York, New York. It is a 9-month assignment at 40 hours per week, with hourly pay of $40. The stated shift is 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with flexibility to regularly work nights and weekends as business needs evolve.

Requirements

2–3 years of experience in sports journalism, content creation, or marketing, including sports journalism experience.
Bachelor’s degree.
Broad sports knowledge, with an emphasis on football, combat sports, and soccer.
Ability to share work samples upon request.

Nice To Haves

Experience writing and editing in AP style.
Experience using content management systems.

Ability to prioritize as needs evolve in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

Evaluate content and identify news and storylines emerging from live sports games and events.
Write and send mobile push notifications to sports app users to drive engagement.
Deliver the voice and pace of the app’s alerts using journalistic and promotional storytelling.
Balance editorial decision-making, promotional requirements, and data-driven analysis of audience behavior as part of an alerts and content programming team.
Partner with streaming and sports marketing teams, particularly on nights and weekends.
Coordinate with the streaming service’s sports coordinator to drive viewership, audience re-engagement, and consistency across platforms.
Manage the sports website’s home page.
Occasionally copy-edit articles.
