About The Position

The Editor performs video editing for daily newscasts, ensuring a high standard of accuracy, balance, and ethics. The role operates videotape and digital non-linear editing equipment and computer software, handles video feeds from field trucks, NBC, and other news organizations, and archives video daily. The editor also maintains edit booths and equipment, manages computer files, meets strict deadlines, and communicates with reporters, anchors, producers, and fellow editors.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• One year of experience editing videotape for daily newscasts or in a related field.
• Proficient knowledge of Beta SX editing equipment and Final Cut Pro (version 7) or similar programs; willingness to train is noted.
• Willingness to work weekends, nights, extremely early morning hours, holidays, and overtime when needed.
• Ability to perform duties and maintain professionalism under extreme deadline pressure.
• Reasonable typing skills.
• Good driving record and valid driver's license; both will be checked.

Responsibilities

• Help clean and maintain edit booths and equipment, including maintaining excellent computer file management.
• Communicate effectively and efficiently with reporters, anchors, producers, and fellow editors.
