About The Position

The ALE Assistant Principal will oversee the development and implementation of high-quality local assessments to meet state requirements and track student progress on state standards. This role involves developing and administering the district’s assessment program, enforcing guidelines for discipline and conduct, and developing and administering policies regarding discipline, conduct, and attendance. The Assistant Principal will communicate these policies to students, staff, and parents, and collaborate with other District personnel to develop and implement quality educational programs. They will also assist faculty in developing effective classroom discipline and organization, and develop procedures to enhance the safety of students and staff, and promote the security of property and equipment. A key responsibility is maintaining an effective and safe school environment, including the ability to implement emergency evacuations and lock-downs effectively. The role also manages curriculum development to meet the needs of all students, prepares required reports and paperwork, and assists in the preparation of appropriate handbooks. The Assistant Principal will mentor staff, establish and maintain an effective learning climate, and design and implement new programs based on research-based practices. They will supervise and evaluate certified and classified personnel, work as a team member to meet system-wide needs, and assist in the supervision of special events. This position holds responsibility for the welfare of all students during school hours and supervises the operation and maintenance of buildings and grounds in cooperation with the Director of Buildings and Grounds. Maintaining prompt and regular attendance, positive professional working relationships, and emotional control under stress are essential, as is abiding by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations. Other duties as assigned will be performed.

Requirements

  • Must meet AR licensure requirements
  • Master’s Degree required
  • Relevant experience as a classroom teacher required
  • Effective leadership skills and experiences
  • Proven background in instruction, assessment, and professional development
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
  • May be required to physically move students or equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, and squatting.
