The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. GRADE 18 LOCATION OF POSITION This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies across the state of Maryland. Current vacancies are located in: Baltimore City The main purpose of this position is to provide substance abuse assessment and/or placement consultation to selected offenders under the jurisdiction of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Division of Parole and Probation.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet all minimum qualifications and license requirements to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire.
  • Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors Supervisor-Alcohol and Drug.
  • Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors Supervisor- Alcohol and Drug.
  • In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates placed in this classification must be either certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.
  • Employees assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
  • Candidates must possess graded courses in management and supervision as defined by the Abuse Administration (ADAA), Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. This training must be approved by ADAA.
  • Employees are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional working fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, or any other language is a plus.
