About The Position

The main purpose of this position is to learn to provide individuals the ability to learn about the disease of addiction, explore ways to live their lives without the use of substances, and obtain guidance to further their recovery.

Requirements

  • Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.
  • Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the certification requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.
  • In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates must be certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.
  • Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
  • Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).
  • Experience with working with criminal justice.
  • Experience running groups, communicating with probation, and working with clients of medicated assisted treatment.
