Summary HII Platform Modernization (PM) trades teams provide expert solutions on shipboard alterations and installations for fleet modernization. The selected Team Lead candidate will support PM, working closely with our skilled trades teams, on Shore Installations and Naval Vessels, utilizing various tools of the trade, removing, installing and upgrading industrial systems and equipment. Selected candidate will be required to travel to shipyards and military bases located in the San Diego Area, around the country and abroad, for durations up to 75% of the time when not assigned to a local task. Per Diem provided, based on location, when on travel. Travel and lodging expenses are covered by the company. Weekend and/or overtime hours required depending on contract awards and support required as per trade/skill set.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related Alteration Install Team experience aboard surface and submarine vessels to include at least 2 years of AIT team/deck lead experience.
  • Must have experience managing, overseeing, scheduling and assigning tasks to one or more multiple jobs.
  • Must be able to interface and communicate effectively with employees, customers, and management. Must attend production meeting and provide reports as necessary.
  • Must have working knowledge and experience with troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs of various electrical and electronic systems, structural elements and associated equipment on marine vessels.
  • Must have working knowledge reading technical documents, manuals, blueprints, drawings, cut sheets, and schematics.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, etc.) in addition to Microsoft Windows, pdf software and general computer usage.
  • Must have experience writing Daily Status Reports, updating Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs), modifying redline drawings, and developing Condition Reports.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Must be able to follow/enforce safety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
  • Must be able to travel between 50% - 75% when not assigned to local tasking.
  • Must have a DOD Secret security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with experience working on CANES, ADNS, CAAS and GPNTS are highly preferred.
  • OSHA 10 Maritime Certification a plus.
  • Candidates with multiple marine installation trade skills are highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Display levels of quality, integrity, safety, respect, engagement and performance consistent with company values.
  • Lead technical teams for installations and repairs, within or across technical trades specialties by working on active class surface ships to perform alterations and installations for fleet modernization
  • Manage, oversee, schedule and assign tasks to one or more multiple jobs to meet standards on various contracts such as Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Naval Information Warfare Systems Command and Naval Surface Warfare Center.
  • Apply masterful, comprehensive understanding of production. specialty trades functions, tools. and processes toward completion of assignments.
  • Install, upgrade and remove, operate, maintain, repair and modify equipment ensuring coordinative engineering field change.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as shipboard systems, integrated systems and related equipment/software at company, customer and/or field locations.
  • Analyze and evaluate systems, processes, products and related performance.
  • Perform quality inspections on finished product and provide onsite training of customer support personnel when required.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time.
  • Maintain effective customer communications and relations, manage subcontractors, provide work direction and lead others. May manage one or more multiple jobs.
  • Perform a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks including duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.
  • Develop, use and maintain technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
  • Schedule and attend meetings, report to and brief customers and senior management.
