About The Position

The Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) Airside Operations is responsible for coordination and regulatory compliance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other federal, state, and city government rules and regulations. Airside Operations is responsible for maintaining an active FAA Airport Operating Certificate under Part 139, as well as upholding the Airport Certification Manual approved by the FAA. The Airside Operations Compliance Coordinator performs highly technical and detail-oriented work involving regulatory compliance, operational document management, and coordination of FAA-required programs and records. Primary responsibilities include updating and maintaining the Airport Certification Manual (ACM), Letters of Agreement (LOAs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Airport Emergency Plan (AEP), training materials, and other operational compliance documents. This position coordinates timeline-sensitive updates, maintains document accuracy and version control, prepares materials for inspections and audits, and ensures operational records comply with FAA, TSA, and airport requirements.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or GED equivalent) and five years of related work experience OR Associate’s degree and three years of related work experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Non-Movement Area Driving Certification (Required to be obtained upon hire)
  • Movement Area Driving Certification (Required to be obtained within 90 days of hire)
  • Thorough knowledge of FARs Part 139, 107, 77 and associated Advisory Circulars, Aviation departmental rules and regulations and standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of other applicable federal regulations including FAR Part 121, TSR Part 1542, and NIMS/ICS.
  • Skills to effectively organize data and prioritize resources during routine and special operations.
  • Ability to work autonomously and maintain structure in a varying schedule based on the needs of tenants and workload.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing CLT in a professional and positive manner.
  • Ability to effectively maintain a safe and functional airfield environment.
  • Ability to make quick, critical, and accurate decisions that align with governing authorities and Airport policies.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro, including technical document creation, editing, formatting, version control, records management, and electronic file organization.
  • Knowledge of document control processes, regulatory recordkeeping requirements, and operational compliance documentation standards.
  • Knowledge of the ACM contents and requirements, including regulatory compliance, operational procedures, and safety standards.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships.
  • Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.
  • Performing basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and ratios.

  • Operate a motor vehicle safely in all weather conditions on and off-road.
  • Obtain and maintain both non-movement and movement area driving privileges within 90 days of hire.
  • This position is deemed essential, and employees are subject to mandatory overtime.
  • Must successfully pass and maintain an active Security Threat Assessment (STA) and Criminal History Records Check (CHRC).

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, recording, and distributing training on the required FAA topics for Part 139 Self-Inspection.
  • Organizing records for all training documents and preparing records for each annual FAA Part 139 Certification Inspection.
  • Assisting and coordinating updates to essential operational and compliance documents including the Airport Certification Manual (ACM), Airport Emergency Plan (AEP), Letters of Agreement (LOAs), Snow and Ice Control Plan (SICP), Surface Movement Guidance and Controls (SMGCS) plan, and other working documents.
  • Coordinating document revision timelines, implementation schedules, approval routing, and distribution for operational and regulatory compliance materials.
  • Maintaining version control and organization of operational manuals, compliance records, SOPs, LOAs, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
  • Preparing and organizing documentation, records, reports, and supporting materials for FAA inspections, audits, operational reviews, and compliance deadlines.
  • Responding calmly and effectively during emergency and irregular operations incidents following NIMS/ICS structure.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Providing assistance to tenants, contractors, the traveling public and airport employees.
  • Acting decisively and exercising independent judgment within established rules, regulations, and procedures, to ensure the safety of persons and security of property.
  • Maintaining accurate records and producing reports.
  • Assisting other Airport Operations divisions with tasks as needed.
  • May be assigned to day-to-day Airport Operations duties as needed, 24/7/365.
