About The Position

Patrols the Lubbock International Airport to maintain security and enforce applicable laws. Performs law enforcement activities for all airport properties (FAA secure and public), including motorized and foot patrols for the prevention of crime, the enforcement of laws and regulations, and the maintenance of security. Performs traffic control, investigation, confinement of prisoners, and dispute resolution; Provides federally mandated law enforcement response to the airport's passenger screening checkpoint; Performs safety and security inspections to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; Enforces traffic and parking regulations; Makes arrests, issues traffic citations, and prepares necessary reports; Responds to on-airport emergencies including civil disturbances, auto accidents, and incidents involving aircraft; Appears in court on and off duty as the arresting officer; Provides escort and guard services when needed; Assists the public in unlocking vehicles, boosting car batteries, giving directions, and providing first aid; Acts as on-site representative of airport management after normal business hours; Interacts on a regular basis with the general public, tenants of the airport, and representatives of federal, state, and area law enforcement agencies; Occasionally acts as airport primary point of contact; Performs related duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent.
  • A minimum of one year of law enforcement experience, or any combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Current Texas Peace Officer's Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Texas Operator's License
  • Physical Exam Required
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of law enforcement.
  • Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment and police equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out department policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Ability to analyze and prioritize situations for a quick, effective, and reasonable course of action.
  • Ability to communicate through receiving and giving written and verbal reports.
  • Ability to learn the use and care of small firearms.
  • Ability to have keen observation and the ability to remember details.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to apprehend, hold, and escort prisoners.
  • Ability to provide general automotive assistance to stranded motorists.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintain the ability to continuously walk and stand during the shift.
  • Maintain the ability to frequently climb ladders, stairs, or other inclined surfaces.
  • Maintain the ability to occasionally bend and kneel during the shift.
  • Maintain the ability to coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement to operate a vehicle.
