About The Position

Performs a wide variety of semi-skilled, skilled and complex skilled work in the operation of equipment, machinery and tools used in the operation, maintenance and repair activities of the airport. This role involves operating various airport equipment, assisting with training, performing maintenance duties, providing Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) coverage, snow removal, mowing, responding to emergencies, participating in daily airport operations, and performing airport security functions. The position also requires adherence to safety and occupational health standards and maintaining professional conduct.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must be current and qualified as an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter.
  • Must be current and qualified as Wyoming Basic Emergency Care I/A/W FAA Part 139 Airport Certification, or be able to obtain these within one year from date of hire.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and carry them out.
  • Knowledge of equipment, machinery and hand tools used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of airport facilities and equipment.
  • Skill in the operation of machinery and equipment as required by the position.
  • Ability to keep records.
  • Ability to ensure and follow standards, safety practices and procedures common to the operations of the airport.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • Must possess a valid Wyoming Commercial Driver’s License of the required status.
  • Ability to be insured under the City’s municipal automobile insurance coverage.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain FAA Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Certification.
  • Must possess and maintain State of Wyoming certification as an Emergency Medical Responder.

Responsibilities

  • Operates equipment such as fire truck, high-speed broom/plow, snow blower, trucks, and mowers.
  • Assists with training of personnel in the operation of machinery and methods for assigned tasks.
  • Performs a wide variety of operational and maintenance duties requiring independent judgment.
  • Performs Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) coverage during scheduled FAA, Part 139 Commercial Airline Flights.
  • Performs snow removal and mowing as required by FAR Part 139.
  • Responds to emergency calls at the airport as ARFF, and Operations/Maintenance.
  • Participates with other personnel in the daily operation activities of the airport.
  • Performs airport security functions in coordination with the Airport Security Coordinator, TSA and other Governmental entities.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable safety and occupational health standards.
  • Maintains self-discipline, conduct and appearance at all times.
