About The Position

Performs, assists, and coordinates a variety of airport operations and maintenance duties, including airfield inspections, airport facilities inspections, and operations, safety, and security activities. Monitors and evaluates the daily activities of airside and landside operations. Conducts airfield inspections; assess airfield conditions and equipment for safe aircraft and user operations, record discrepancies and compile data for reports and recommendations, generate work orders. Inspects airport facilities to ensure satisfactory levels of service, repair and maintenance, examining airport facilities, including airport terminal/FBO building and grounds, fuel farm, campground, hangars, fences/gates, airport lighting/weather systems. Performs routine FBO aircraft servicing duties as necessary, including aircraft parking/marshalling, fueling, cleaning windows, tire inflation, rental car coordination. Compiles and provides a variety of information to airport users regarding local air traffic procedures, airfield conditions, weather conditions, airport facilities and other local services. Monitors airport activities, aircraft and fueling operations to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations pertaining to airport operations, safety, and security. Performs a variety of airport business and administration duties, including airport operations and maintenance supplies inventory/purchasing, collecting/processing aircraft tie-down fees, fuel purchases, campground fees, FBO facilities fees. Conducts wildlife management in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, plans, and procedures. Provides airfield escorts as necessary, for contractors, vendors, and users with need to access airfield and airport facilities. Coordinates appropriate actions in response to airport emergencies, accidents, and incidents. Assists in enforcement of airport rules and regulations, minimum standards, and other airport operations, safety, and security related policies and procedures. Investigates and records flight and ground operations violations of federal, state, local regulations; assist in development and review of investigation reports. Assists in corrective actions of airport tenants, users and airport staff response to violations. Acts as liaison between the airport and other entities as necessary; responds to questions and inquiries from the public, airport tenants, users, and governmental regulatory agencies. Refers complaints and other matters as appropriate to airport staff. Assists in conducting airfield driving training, security training, airport familiarization training, and other training required by federal, state and local regulations. Assists in the distribution, control, accountability and verification of airport access systems; assists in conducting screening of airport security access card applicants in accordance with federal, state and local security plans and programs. Coordinates special events as related to the airport. Performs airport and airfield grounds maintenance duties as required. Other related duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma from an accredited school or its equivalent.
  • Six (6) months of training and experience in airport operations, airframe & power plant, or military aviation operations or airfield management which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities and other competencies necessary for success in the position.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations relating to airport operations
  • Knowledge of aircraft types and performance characteristics
  • Knowledge of and skill in a wide variety of electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks.
  • Skill in operation of computers and peripheral equipment.
  • Skill in use of hand, electric and pneumatic power tools.
  • Ability to perform administrative and business tasks including accurate record keeping, arithmetic calculations, processing charge card and cash transactions, and detailed and organized filing.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, both orally and in writing and to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply safety and emergency response rules, procedures, and practices for response to emergencies.
  • Skilled in operating a variety of tools and ground support and commercial equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain effective working relationships with airport users, City employees/officials, consultants, other governmental agency representatives, and the general public.
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Must maintain a valid telephone number.
