About The Position

Performs unskilled to semi-skilled mechanical service work on Airport vehicles and equipment. The role includes routine maintenance, vehicle servicing, tire repair and balancing, and assisting skilled mechanics with mechanical work on light and heavy equipment. The position helps keep Airport vehicles and equipment safe, reliable, and ready for operations, and reports to the shift supervisor.

Requirements

Ability to oil, grease, and otherwise service light and heavy vehicles and equipment.
Ability to read and write legibly and keep simple records.
Ability to perform heavy physical work and lift up to 80 pounds.
Possession of a valid driver’s license or driving privilege card.
May require a Utah Commercial Driver License within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

Wash, clean, and service City vehicles daily.
Under supervision, perform unskilled to routine semi-skilled mechanic work on light and heavy equipment.
Service light and heavy equipment with oil, grease, and water; check and service batteries; and check and lubricate transmissions and differentials.
Wash and steam-clean vehicles, motors, and equipment.
Maintain standard shop records, including time, maintenance part orders, and job orders.
Repair, mount, and balance tires on a variety of light and heavy vehicles.
Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles as directed by the shift supervisor.
Operate and drive a variety of heavy equipment to and from repair sites.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
