About The Position

This role involves providing a systematic touch-up to cast parts, ensuring they meet quality standards. The operator will be responsible for visual inspection, defect removal, and rework of castings according to specific quality engineering specifications. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to operate air-powered tools, and perform grit blasting. The operator will also be involved in inspections to identify part differences and must be able to handle lifting of parts and trays. The role may also involve training junior operators and requires willingness to work overtime.

Requirements

  • High school education.
  • Nine months OJT training.
  • Normal initiative and ingenuity.
  • Normal effort required.
  • Lift/move 5-15 pounds, 2 or more times per hour.
  • Responsible for self.
  • Must be willing to work daily overtime and weekend overtime as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Read and apply the Quality Engineering Specification (QES) to the visual inspection of a casting, using a scan pattern for the inspection.
  • Evaluate indications and make a decision to accept or reject the casting based on the acceptance of the QES.
  • Operate air-powered tool to remove defects and/or rework castings.
  • Grit blast parts in an enclosed grit blast cabinet, as necessary.
  • Perform "Toy Soldier" inspection of parts to identify any differences in groups of parts per the QES.
  • Lift individual parts (up to 6 pounds) and trays of parts (up to 25 pounds).
  • Touch up all parts within the area.
  • Perform other duties for which certification is required.
  • Ensure parts meet quality standards.
  • Train Touch Up Operator I's as required.
