Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 6 months manufacturing/industrial/aerospace experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • In compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, priority consideration is given to candidates who are INTERNAL (and recall) to the Pratt & Whitney IAM Bargaining Unit members of District Lodge 26 and Affiliated Locals 700 and 1746 (Connecticut Operations).

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate simple machines or equipment; operate other grouped simple machines or equipment types to produce parts where methods and processes are well developed and proper tooling and fixtures are provided.
  • Transport parts, raw material and fixtures.
  • Work from operation sheets, drawings, computer generated information and verbal instructions, obtain specified equipment, tools and gages to machine, fabricate and finish a variety of production parts.
  • Perform bench assembly and finishing operations as assigned, using a variety of handheld tools, power tools and other equipment to process parts during various stages of manufacturing operations.
  • Perform part preparatory function including various methods of grit blast, shot peening, masking and routine oven operations to clean parts or condition surfaces for coatings.
  • Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments to check dimensions. Record results and enter information into computer data systems as required.
  • Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions such as operator’s check list for upkeep and to ensure equipment operates properly.
  • Assist others who are responsible for new equipment or processes.
