About The Position

This role involves working closely with and under the direction of the Aircraft Mechanic Lead and Production Supervisor. The Aircraft Worker is responsible for launching and recovering aircraft, performing required inspections to ensure airframe structure and powerplant serviceability, and conducting aircraft ground handling and servicing. The position also includes adjusting, aligning, and calibrating aircraft components, performing functional checks of various aircraft systems (fuel, hydraulic, engines, avionics, and electro-environmental), and rigging, tracking, and balancing rotor systems. The worker will advise the Lead Mechanic of any deficiencies affecting aircraft airworthiness, perform inspections, and accomplish refurbishment and phase maintenance. Additionally, the role requires preparing and maintaining aircraft maintenance records and historical documents, using the IMDS for maintenance actions, and utilizing applicable technical orders/manuals for maintenance, time compliance, and troubleshooting. Responsibilities extend to researching, ordering, and receiving aircraft parts, preparing parts for turn-in, initiating material deficiency reports, and inventorying aircraft support equipment. Maintaining tools in a safe and serviceable condition, reporting unserviceable tools and equipment, and annotating inspection documents are also key duties. The worker will check serviceability and operate support equipment, comply with established policies, procedures, standards, safety, bioenvironmental, security, and housekeeping requirements. Assisting other mechanics, complying with training requirements, and training newly assigned personnel are expected. The role involves operating vehicles, maintaining H-1 or H-60 helicopters as training is provided, and performing other duties as required.

Requirements

Minimum at least one (1) year of recent (within the past three (3) years) of H-60 or UH-1N aircraft maintenance experience.
Military aviation technical school (CDC—military correspondence course or equivalent acceptable) or possess an Airframe and Power Plant License.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of the use of hand and special tools, and testers is required.
Must have basic working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.
Must have a current civilian driver's license, and be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver’s license.
Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Restricted Area Badge (Position of Trust) clearance.
Required lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Researches, orders and receives aircraft parts.
Prepares parts for turn-in back into the supply system.
Initiates material deficiency reports as required.
Inventories aircraft support equipment.
Maintains tools, hand and special, in a safe and serviceable condition.
Reports unserviceable tools and equipment to appropriate responsible party.
Annotates equipment/tools inspection and condition documents.
Checks serviceability and operates powered and non-powered support equipment.
Complies with established policies, procedures and standards.
Assists other mechanics/specialists as required.
Complies with all safety, bioenvironmental, security and housekeeping standards.
Complies with training requirements.
Trains newly assigned personnel as required.
Operates vehicles, both special purpose and regular as required.
Maintains H-1or H-60 helicopters as training is provided.
Perform other duties as required.
