About The Position

This role involves working closely with and under the direction of Aircraft Mechanic Lead and Production Supervisor. The Aircraft Worker is responsible for launching and recovering aircraft, performing required inspections to ensure airframe structure and powerplant serviceability, and conducting aircraft ground handling and servicing. The position also includes adjusting, aligning, and calibrating aircraft components, performing functional checks of various aircraft systems (fuel, hydraulic, engines, avionics, and electro-environmental), and rigging, tracking, and balancing rotor systems. The worker will advise the Lead Mechanic of deficiencies affecting aircraft airworthiness, perform inspections, accomplish refurbishment and phase maintenance, and prepare and maintain aircraft maintenance records and historical documents. This includes ensuring all historical documents are given to plans and scheduling and accomplishing aircraft maintenance actions using IMDS. The role requires using applicable technical orders/manuals for aircraft maintenance, time compliance technical orders, and troubleshooting. Responsibilities also extend to researching, ordering, and receiving aircraft parts, preparing parts for turn-in, initiating material deficiency reports, inventorying aircraft support equipment, and maintaining tools in a safe and serviceable condition. The worker must report unserviceable tools and equipment, annotate inspection and condition documents, and check the serviceability and operation of support equipment. Compliance with established policies, procedures, standards, safety, bioenvironmental, security, and housekeeping standards is mandatory. The role may involve assisting other mechanics, complying with training requirements, training newly assigned personnel, and operating vehicles. Specific training will be provided for maintaining H-1 or H-60 helicopters. Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum at least one (1) year of recent (within the past three (3) years) of H-60 or UH-1N aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the use of hand and special tools, and testers is required.
  • Must have basic working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.
  • Must have a current civilian driver's license, and be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver’s license.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Restricted Area Badge (Position of Trust) clearance.
  • Required lifting up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts desirable.
  • Knowledge of aircraft sheet/metal/structural modifications and repair desirable.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory desirable.
  • Knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers desirable.
  • Requires working knowledge of technical publications.
  • Knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Accomplishes aircraft maintenance actions using the IMDS.
  • Uses applicable technical orders/manuals when performing aircraft maintenance, time compliance technical order, and to troubleshoot aircraft.
  • Researches, orders and receives aircraft parts.
  • Prepares parts for turn-in back into the supply system.
  • Initiates material deficiency reports as required.
  • Inventories aircraft support equipment.
  • Maintains tools, hand and special, in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Reports unserviceable tools and equipment to appropriate responsible party.
  • Annotates equipment/tools inspection and condition documents.
  • Checks serviceability and operates powered and non-powered support equipment.
  • Complies with established policies, procedures and standards.
  • Assists other mechanics/specialists as required.
  • Complies with all safety, bioenvironmental, security and housekeeping standards.
  • Complies with training requirements.
  • Trains newly assigned personnel as required.
  • Operates vehicles, both special purpose and regular as required.
  • Maintains H-1 or H-60 helicopters as training is provided.
  • Perform other duties as required.
