About The Position

This role involves working closely with and under the direction of an Aircraft Mechanic Lead and Production Supervisor. The Aircraft Worker is responsible for launching and recovering aircraft, performing required inspections to ensure airframe structure and powerplant serviceability, and handling and servicing aircraft on the ground. The position requires adjusting, aligning, and calibrating aircraft components, performing functional checks of various aircraft systems (fuel, hydraulic, engines, avionics, electro-environmental), and rigging, tracking, and balancing rotor systems. The worker will advise the Lead Mechanic of deficiencies affecting aircraft airworthiness, perform inspections, refurbishment, and phase maintenance. Additionally, the role includes preparing and maintaining aircraft maintenance records and historical documents, ensuring all historical documents are given to plans and scheduling. The Aircraft Worker will accomplish maintenance actions using IMDS, utilize applicable technical orders/manuals for maintenance, time compliance, and troubleshooting, and research, order, and receive aircraft parts. Preparing parts for turn-in, initiating material deficiency reports, and inventorying aircraft support equipment are also key duties. Maintaining tools in a safe and serviceable condition, reporting unserviceable tools and equipment, and annotating inspection documents are required. The worker will check serviceability and operate support equipment, comply with established policies, procedures, standards, safety, bioenvironmental, security, and housekeeping standards. Assisting other mechanics/specialists, complying with training requirements, and training newly assigned personnel are expected. The role involves operating vehicles and maintaining H-1 or H-60 helicopters as training is provided. Other duties as required will be performed.

Requirements

Minimum at least one (1) year of recent (within the past three (3) years) of H-60 or UH-1N aircraft maintenance experience.
Military aviation technical school (CDC—military correspondence course or equivalent acceptable) or possess an Airframe and Power Plant License.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of the use of hand and special tools, and testers is required.
Must have basic working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.
Must have a current civilian driver's license, and be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver’s license.
Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Restricted Area Badge (Position of Trust) clearance.
Required lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Accomplishes aircraft maintenance actions using the IMDS.
Uses applicable technical orders/manuals when performing aircraft maintenance, time compliance technical order, and to troubleshoot aircraft.
Researches, orders and receives aircraft parts.
Prepares parts for turn-in back into the supply system.
Initiates material deficiency reports as required.
Inventories aircraft support equipment.
Maintains tools, hand and special, in a safe and serviceable condition.
Reports unserviceable tools and equipment to appropriate responsible party.
Annotates equipment/tools inspection and condition documents.
Checks serviceability and operates powered and non-powered support equipment.
Complies with established policies, procedures and standards.
Assists other mechanics/specialists as required.
Complies with all safety, bioenvironmental, security and housekeeping standards.
Complies with training requirements.
Trains newly assigned personnel as required.
Operates vehicles, both special purpose and regular as required.
Maintains H-1 or H-60 helicopters as training is provided.
Perform other duties as required.
