The Aircraft Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that assigned aircraft are maintained within required specifications of 14 CFR Parts 43, 91 and 125 and other FAA and DOD regulations, OEM instructions and CBP directives as required and are airworthy before operation. This role involves inspecting the work of Aircraft Mechanics, applying technical knowledge to ensure proper equipment installation and operation, and assisting the maintenance department in solving complex problems by interpreting technical documentation. The inspector will make entries in aircraft logs and records, provide guidance to lower-level technicians, and perform various quality inspections, including receiving, in-process, final quality, and flight safety inspections. They will also approve or reject work, review procedures, analyze defects, monitor safety and training requirements, and perform site safety and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) inspections. Additionally, the inspector will monitor tool control programs, ensure equipment calibration, maintain records, and coordinate with Customer Quality Assurance Representatives. The role includes monitoring various maintenance department programs, assisting in the development of standard operating procedures, and supporting functional check flights. Basic computer skills are necessary for accessing technical references and training requirements. Maintenance documentation must be completed according to QA and regulatory requirements, and work order timekeeping procedures must be followed. A high state of cleanliness and a clean-as-you-go process are expected. Weekly FOD walk-downs, maintaining situational awareness, cognitive focus, and risk mitigation are crucial. Compliance with DHS/DOD documents and publications is mandatory. Missing, lost, found, or unattended tools must be immediately reported, and tools must be maintained and controlled according to policy. Regular tool inventory and inspection are required to identify worn or broken tools for replacement. Work areas must be cleaned, and hazardous materials stored properly, handled, and disposed of in accordance with laws and regulations. Safety rules and procedures must be followed, and accidents, injuries, or unsafe practices promptly reported. Weekly break room and smoking area cleaning duties are also part of the role. Periodic travel may be required to support customer missions.
