About The Position

Airbus Helicopters is seeking an Aircraft Technician B to join its Paint team in Columbus, Mississippi. The position performs surface preparation, component taping, and priming or painting of aircraft and aircraft subassemblies. It is an onsite, temporary contract assignment with no fixed duration; the assignment may be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a third-party vendor and assigned to Airbus in America. The role is based at Airbus Helicopters’ Columbus facility, which includes helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and serves as a North American Center of Excellence. The position requires compliance awareness and a commitment to integrity. Required personal protective equipment may include safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators or masks, and protective gloves, as required by the site or customer site.

Requirements

At least six months of related experience preparing surfaces for paint or painting industrial, automotive, or aviation products.
Ability to apply directions for surface preparation and layout taping.
Must have current work authorization; the company states it does not sponsor visas for U.S. positions unless specified.
Ability to meet the described physical and sensory requirements, including carrying and lifting items up to 30 pounds and working onsite.

Responsibilities

Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, filling, and washing.
Tape surfaces and areas where paint will not be applied.
Help maintain scrap at minimum levels.
Maintain shop cleanliness as directed by leads or supervisors, including sweeping, vacuuming, and wiping down surfaces as needed.
