About The Position

This occupation includes jobs involved in disassembling, repairing, testing, troubleshooting, examining, fitting, modifying, maintaining, installing, and determining serviceability of aircraft survival and flight equipment such as helmets, torso harness assemblies, preservers, parachutes, life rafts, chemical and biological protective devices, survival kits, oxygen masks, and anti-G-suits. The work includes operational and circuit checks of emergency signaling and communication devices such as survival radios and beacons. The work requires knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance procedures, pyrotechnic and explosive devices, and aircraft egress systems. In addition, the work requires familiarity with aircraft assigned to the unit, detailed knowledge of the operation and characteristics of aircraft survival and flight equipment, and the ability to demonstrate and explain proper usage and operation of the equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years of actual and recent O or I level E-2C/D Aircraft Maintenance experience is required or equivalent rotary aircraft experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance procedures, pyrotechnic and explosive devices, and aircraft egress systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of the operation and characteristics of aircraft survival flight equipment and the ability to demonstrate and explain proper usage and operation of the equipment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications.
  • Organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) or Rapid Gate Pass.
  • Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
  • PR “A” school or equivalent
  • Able to pass an ordnance physical and become qualified

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with U.S. Naval repair maintenance operations on military aircraft highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Disassembling, repairing, testing, troubleshooting, examining, fitting, modifying, maintaining, installing, and determining serviceability of aircraft survival and flight equipment.
  • Performing operational and circuit checks of emergency signaling and communication devices such as survival radios and beacons.
  • Demonstrating and explaining proper usage and operation of the equipment.
