About The Position

This role is for an Aircraft Structures Apprentice I in Heavy Maintenance. The position requires the successful completion of the AMES 12-week formal Aircraft Structures Trainee classroom program and demonstrates a desire to learn the trade of Aircraft Structures repair. The apprentice will demonstrate structural repair skills, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, attention to detail, problem-solving, and creative thinking. Reliability and dependability in completing formal classroom training modules are essential. The apprentice must be able to follow written and verbal directions, interpret diagrams, correct errors, and practice safe work procedures. Precision in manipulating hand tools is also a key requirement. A working knowledge of aircraft construction and repair principles, along with basic computer proficiency for accessing digital manuals and training materials, is necessary.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of AMES 12 week formal Aircraft Structures Trainee classroom program
  • Working knowledge of aircraft construction and repair principles
  • Basic computer proficiency accessing digital manuals, training materials, regulations, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to twist, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl and climb and sustain those positions for an extended period of time
  • Ability to work at heights up to 80 feet
  • Ability to work with arms raised above head and perform repetitive tasks and motions
  • Ability to fit in tight places
  • Ability to work in confined spaces with respiratory equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to precisely manipulate hand tools in a variety of situations

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in a maintenance or skilled trade environment
  • Previous experience interpreting diagrams and technical documentation or directions
  • Previous experience using hand tools
  • Prior hands-on experience in a heavy maintenance environment
  • Prior experience at a FAR Part 145 repair station
