Aircraft Sheetmetal Tech II
About The Position
This role involves assembling and maintaining complex test lab fixtures and equipment, as well as assembling, inspecting, and repairing complex test articles and specimens. The position also includes assisting with test executions, complying with safety regulations, and understanding the experimental test process and internal lab Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Methods (WMs). The technician will demonstrate basic knowledge of lab systems and capabilities, communicate effectively for work assignments, and provide progress updates to their supervisor. Additionally, the role requires ensuring work meets quality standards, following SOPs for equipment operation, applying 6S and Lean Initiatives, and properly using and maintaining company-provided tools and equipment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2 years experience in aviation, manufacturing, or electronics
- Proficient in blueprint reading/interpretation and shop mathematics
- Experience with basic hand tools
- Experience with CAD packages and planning systems
Responsibilities
- Assemble and maintain complex test lab fixtures and equipment
- Assemble, inspect, and repair complex test articles and specimens
- Assist with test executions
- Comply with safety rules and procedures. Use protective equipment as required and be alert for unsafe conditions. Address unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk
- Show understanding of the experimental test process and internal lab SOPs and WMs
- Shows basic knowledge in some systems and capabilities used throughout the lab
- Communicate as required to receive and understand work assignments. Sometimes coordinating directly with test engineering
- Provide status to their direct supervisor of progress or help needed on assigned projects
- Ensure that all work accomplished meets quality standards and specifications
- Follow standard operating procedures when operating company and lab equipment
- Apply 6S and Lean Initiatives to keep shops, hangars, and aircraft work areas clean and uncluttered
- Implement and apply Lean/continuous improvement processes to all areas of responsibility
- Properly use and maintain Company-provided tools and equipment. Return items to designated storage area after use
