About The Position

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is looking for an Aircraft Flammability Tech (sheetmetal). This role involves performing operation activities in support of experimental, structural, and flammability testing. Operation activities could utilize skillsets related to sheetmetal, instrumentation/electrical, fabrication, calibrations, hydraulic/pneumatics, large structural elements, test execution, etc. The position is full-time and contract-based for an initial duration of 12 months with the opportunity for extension. There are two levels of essential functions and responsibilities described: Level I and Level II.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED.
  • One (1) year of basic sheetmetal experience to two (2) plus years of basic sheetmetal experience.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
  • Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program may be required.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work in confined areas, and lift up to 50 lbs. (Level I).
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift (Level II).
  • Proficient in blueprint reading/interpretation and shop mathematics.
  • Experience with basic hand tools.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and maintain complex test lab fixture and equipment.
  • Assemble, inspect, and repair complex test articles and specimens.
  • Assist with test executions.
  • Comply with safety rules and procedures. Use protective equipment as required and be alert for unsafe conditions. Address unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk.
  • Learn the experimental test process and internal lab SOPs and WMs (Level I).
  • Show understanding of the experimental test process and internal lab SOPs and WMs (Level II).
  • Learn various systems and capabilities used throughout the lab (Level I).
  • Shows basic knowledge in some systems and capabilities used throughout the lab (Level II).
  • Communicate as required to receive and understand work assignments. Sometimes coordinating directly with test engineering.
  • Provide status to their direct supervisor of progress or help needed on assigned projects.
  • Ensure that all work accomplished meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Follow standard operating procedures when operating company and lab equipment.
  • Apply 6S and Lean Initiatives to keep shops, hangars, and aircraft work areas clean and uncluttered.
  • Implement and apply Lean/continuous improvement processes to all areas of responsibility.
  • Properly use and maintain company-provided tools and equipment. Return items to designated storage area after use.
  • Experience with CAD packages and planning systems (Level II).
  • Must have a good working knowledge of computers and experience working with Microsoft Office suite (Level II).
  • Proficient in blueprint reading/interpretation and shop mathematics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
