The CBP Aircraft Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that assigned aircraft are maintained within required specifications of 14 CFR Parts 43, 91 and 125 and other FAA and DOD regulations, OEM instructions and CBP directives as required and are airworthy before operation. This role involves inspecting the work of Aircraft Mechanics, applying technical knowledge to ensure proper equipment installation and operation, and solving complex problems by interpreting technical documentation. The inspector will make entries in aircraft logs and records, provide guidance to lower-level technicians, and perform various quality inspections, including receiving, in-process, final quality, and flight safety inspections. They will also review and approve procedures, analyze defects, monitor safety and training requirements, and conduct work site safety and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) inspections. Maintaining records, coordinating with customer representatives, and monitoring various maintenance department programs are also key responsibilities. The inspector will assist in developing standard operating procedures, quality plans, and safety plans, and may assist in briefing and debriefing functional check flights. Basic computer skills are necessary for accessing technical references and training requirements. Documentation of maintenance, compliance with work order procedures, maintaining cleanliness, performing FOD walk-downs, maintaining situational awareness, and complying with DHS/DOD documents are also required. The role also includes tool control, inventory, inspection, and replacement of tools, proper handling of hazardous materials, and prompt reporting of accidents and safety violations. Weekly break room and smoking area cleaning duties may be assigned, and travel to other sites may be required.
