The Aircraft Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that assigned aircraft are maintained within required specifications of 14 CFR Parts 43, 91 and 125 and other FAA and DOD regulations, OEM instructions and CBP directives as required and are airworthy before operation. This role involves inspecting the work of Aircraft Mechanics, applying technical knowledge to ensure proper equipment installation and operation, and solving complex problems by interpreting technical documentation. The inspector will make entries in aircraft logs and records, provide guidance to lower-level technicians, and perform various quality inspections during maintenance, modification, and repair of military tactical aircraft systems. They will approve or reject work, review procedures, analyze defects, and monitor safety, training, and certification requirements. Additionally, the inspector will conduct work site safety and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) inspections, monitor tool control programs, and maintain calibration records. Coordination with the Customer Quality Assurance Representative is essential, as is inspecting aircraft maintenance forms and records. The inspector monitors various maintenance department programs, assists in developing standard operating procedures, and supports functional check flights. Basic computer skills are necessary for accessing technical references and training requirements. Maintenance documentation must be performed according to Quality Assurance (QA) and regulatory requirements, and work order timekeeping procedures must be followed. A high state of cleanliness and a clean-as-you-go process are expected. Weekly FOD walk-downs, maintaining situational awareness, cognitive focus, and risk mitigation are also key responsibilities. Compliance with DHS/DOD documents and publications, immediate reporting of missing tools, and regular tool inventory and inspection are required. Work areas must be kept clean, hazardous materials stored properly, and handled in accordance with regulations. Safety rules and procedures must be followed, and accidents or unsafe practices promptly reported. Weekly cleaning duties for break rooms and smoking areas are also part of the role.
