The Aircraft Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that assigned aircraft are maintained within required specifications of 14 CFR Parts 43, 91 and 125 and other FAA and DOD regulations, OEM instructions and CBP directives as required and are airworthy before operation. This role involves inspecting the work of Aircraft Mechanics, applying technical knowledge to ensure proper equipment installation and operation, and assisting the maintenance department in solving complex problems by interpreting technical documentation. The inspector will also make entries in aircraft logs and records, provide guidance to lower-level technicians, and perform various quality inspections, including receiving, in-process, final quality, flight safety inspections, and functional operational tests during maintenance, modification, and repair of military tactical aircraft systems. They will approve or reject work, review procedures, analyze defects, monitor safety and training requirements, and conduct work site safety and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) inspections. Additionally, the inspector will monitor tool control programs, ensure equipment calibration, maintain records, and coordinate with the Customer Quality Assurance Representative. The role also includes monitoring various maintenance department programs, assisting in the development of standard operating procedures, quality plans, and safety plans, and briefing/debriefing functional check flights. Basic computer skills are required for accessing technical references and training requirements, and all maintenance must be documented according to QA and regulatory requirements. Compliance with work order timekeeping, maintaining cleanliness, performing FOD walk-downs, maintaining situational awareness, and adhering to DHS/DOD documents and publications are also key responsibilities. The inspector must also manage tools, handle hazardous materials properly, and comply with safety rules, reporting any accidents or violations promptly. Periodic travel may be required.
