About The Position

The Aircraft Painter is responsible for preparing aircraft surfaces, applying primers and paints, and ensuring the quality and adherence to specifications of the paint job. This role involves interpreting technical instructions, maintaining equipment, documenting work, and adhering to safety and company policies. The painter will also assist with moving aircraft and other projects as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an aircraft painter.
  • Knowledge of all types of paints and thinners.
  • Qualified to prepare aircraft exteriors and panels for proper application of paint.
  • Ability to minimize rework through proficiency in paint preparation and application.
  • Must meet the requirements of Airport Authority to receive a badge and have no ramp restrictions.
  • Must be able to read and speak English.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with other personnel.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Basic computer aptitude preferred.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Occasional periods of walking, sitting, rotation, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs, and frequently lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Must possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Cessna and King Air experience.
  • A&P License.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares aircraft surfaces for paint by cleaning, masking, and applying/removing stripper.
  • Applies aerodynamic filler and masks aircraft to protect components during the paint process.
  • Mixes primers and paints according to manufacturer specifications and applies them to aircraft exterior surfaces.
  • Interprets specifications, color renderings, and instructions to plan paint operations, including mixing ratios, surface preparation, masking, drying times, and number of coats.
  • Layouts stripes and logos.
  • Maintains painting supplies and equipment, including spray guns, air hoses, pumps, paper, and tape.
  • Documents all work accomplished in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Follows and promotes company policies and procedures, including safety, environmental, and housekeeping rules.
  • Provides backup to line personnel for moving aircraft in and out of hangars.
  • Performs other activities and projects as approved by the Director of Maintenance or General Manager.
