About The Position

The Aircraft Painter I prepares aircraft for paint-related operations by performing tasks safely and on schedule while meeting quality expectations. The role involves preparing aircraft surfaces, applying compounds, operating and maintaining painting preparation and priming equipment, mixing paints and primers, and completing leading-edge sealant work. The position also requires compliance with safety, 5S, housekeeping, and paint-shop practices, including use of personal protective equipment and protection of aircraft interiors.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of painting experience.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
Ability to pass a Pulmonary Function Test to obtain respirator certification.
Ability to use tools, equipment, and materials used in aircraft painting.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs, perform close-tolerance work, work in small spaces, and lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to work any shift.
Computer literacy.
Working knowledge of paint processes and products, including lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to work from a scissor lift and wear fall restraint.

Responsibilities

Mask, sand, and prepare aircraft for paint application.
Apply glazing and sealing compounds in preparation for final painting.
Operate and maintain preparation and priming equipment; mix paints and primers.
Perform leading-edge sealant work in final detail.
Follow safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; use personal protective equipment and protect aircraft interiors.
Care for and maintain assigned shop equipment and tools.
Comply with paint-shop standard practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
