About The Position

The Aircraft Painter is responsible for preparing aircraft surfaces for paint removal and refinishing, applying various coatings, and ensuring the quality and compliance of all paint-related work. This role involves meticulous attention to detail in masking, mixing paints, applying finishes, and maintaining equipment and work areas according to strict aerospace and regulatory standards. The painter will also interpret technical documents, document work performed, and support hangar operations as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as aircraft painter
  • Requires knowledge of all types of paints and thinners
  • Qualified to prepare aircraft exteriors, and panels for proper application of paint
  • Minimize rework through proficiency in paint preparation and application
  • Must meet the requirements of Airport Authority to be receive a badge and have no ramp restrictions
  • Must be able to read and speak English.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with other personnel.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Basic computer aptitude preferred.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Occasional periods of walking, sitting, rotation, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs, and frequently lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Must possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Cessna and King Air experience would be a plus
  • A& P License is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare aircraft surfaces for paint removal and refinishing, including cleaning, masking, chemical stripping, sanding, and surface preparation in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Apply fillers, primers, topcoats, and specialty coatings to aircraft exterior surfaces using approved aerospace paint systems and application techniques.
  • Mask and protect aircraft components including windows, seals, antennas, landing gear, flight controls, static ports, and sensitive surfaces during all phases of the paint process.
  • Mix and apply primers, paints, and coatings in accordance with manufacturer technical data, maintenance manuals, safety standards, and approved mixing ratios.
  • Perform layout and application of aircraft striping, logos, registration markings, and custom paint schemes with precision and attention to detail.
  • Interpret aircraft drawings, paint renderings, technical specifications, and work instructions to properly plan and execute paint projects.
  • Ensure proper flash times, curing times, coating thickness, and finish quality standards are achieved throughout the refinishing process.
  • Operate, maintain, and clean paint equipment and facilities including spray guns, pressure pots, pumps, air hoses, sanding equipment, and paint booths.
  • Inspect completed work for defects, contamination, runs, orange peel, adhesion issues, and overall finish quality; correct discrepancies as necessary to minimize rework.
  • Accurately document all maintenance and paint work performed in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures.
  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, FAA, hazardous material handling, respiratory protection, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times.
  • Provide operational support with aircraft movement and hangar operations as needed.
  • Support additional projects and operational assignments as directed by leadership.
