About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic (AME) is responsible for maintaining assigned aircraft in accordance with customer, manufacturer, and company procedures. This role specifically involves all egress system on and off equipment maintenance for T45 aircraft, including the removal, transport, inspection, repair, and reinstallation of ejection seats, as well as the inspection, repair, and cleaning of seat harnesses. The position also requires inventorying, storing, removing, and replacing Cartridge Actuated Devices and Propulsion Actuated Devices explosive items. Additionally, the AME will maintain the environmental system for T-45 aircraft, inspect and maintain canopies and their explosive devices, and maintain the On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS). The role includes performing aircraft scheduled/unscheduled maintenance, corrosion control procedures, operating Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and flight line vehicles, and driving tugs for equipment and aircraft towing. Responsibilities also extend to annotating maintenance actions in various systems, ordering parts, supervising/assisting in aircraft movement, and ensuring good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness, and safety. The position may require off-site service on detachments, travel, and obtaining/maintaining a security clearance.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of experience within the last six (6) years in ejection seat maintenance.
  • Three (3) years of recent system component repair experience.
  • Graduate of a military or factory equivalent ejection seat course of instruction.
  • Familiar with Navy technical publications.
  • Capable of conducting on-the-job training and maintenance of Contractor personnel seat/cockpit safety checkout training records.
  • Experienced and qualified in the removal and replacement of ejection seats, canopies and explosive devices, both “I” and “0” levels.
  • Experienced and qualified in the rigging of explosive linkages/devices applicable to seats and canopy.
  • Able to perform flow checks on egress systems.
  • Experience in the fitting and rigging of aircraft canopy, canopy drive, and locking mechanisms, both “I” and “0” levels.
  • Must be capable of obtaining Non-Nuclear Ordnance Certification.
  • Must deal with the customer and company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.
  • Must be experienced in environmental control systems.
  • Must have an in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must have a current civilian driver's license, and be able to obtain and maintain a Government flight line driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a level or security clearance required by the Company and/or Government.
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations.
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of aircraft common and special tools and test equipment.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, follow and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and other technical publications.
  • Must have a working knowledge of basic computer systems.
  • Must be willing and able to work with job-required hazardous materials.
  • Must be willing and able to conduct specialty on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains assigned aircraft in accordance with customer, manufacturer, and company procedures.
  • Responsible for all egress system on and off equipment maintenance for T45 aircraft.
  • Removes, transports, inspects, repairs, and reinstalls ejection seats.
  • Inspects, repairs, and cleans seat harnesses.
  • Inventories, stores, removes, and replaces Cartridge Actuated Devices and Propulsion Actuated Devices explosive items.
  • Maintains environmental system for T-45 aircraft.
  • Maintains and inspects canopy and canopy explosive devices.
  • Maintains and inspects On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS).
  • Performs aircraft scheduled/unscheduled on and off equipment maintenance.
  • Performs aircraft corrosion control procedures to include wash, wipe down, polish, and vacuum.
  • Operates Ground Support Equipment (GSE), flight line vehicles, and other support equipment as required.
  • Drives tugs for the purpose of towing equipment and aircraft.
  • Annotates maintenance actions on aircraft forms and Visual Information Display Systems (VIDS)/Maintenance Action Forms (MAF) or within Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA) Systems.
  • Orders aircraft/equipment parts.
  • Supervises/assists in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
  • May be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
  • Must be able to travel at least 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain (within 6 months of start date) and maintain security clearance.
