About The Position

This position involves performing repairs and maintenance on aircraft to ensure they are in safe operating condition. The role requires adherence to orders from higher-grade workers, removal and replacement of defective parts, making adjustments, servicing engines and components, and conducting inspections. A thorough understanding of aircraft-related hazardous materials is also necessary. The job may involve working in hangars or outdoors, potentially in extreme weather conditions, and exposure to noise, fumes, and electrical hazards. The role requires physical stamina, including walking, standing, climbing, and lifting, as well as good vision and hearing.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of systems related to individual specialty codes
  • Ability to use military and company publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm and diagrams
  • Knowledge of supply procedures.
  • Possess a valid US State driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret data is required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to obtain a Government flight line driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.
  • Minimum of three (3) years actual and recent experience in the repair, modification, maintenance and overhaul of systems related to individual specialty codes.
  • Personnel within this classification must be specialized in one or more of the following SCA Occupational Codes: 23070 Aircraft Worker, 05040 Automotive Worker, 23980 Woodworker, 05160 Motor Equipment Metal Worker.

Nice To Haves

  • A & P and FCC Licenses are desirable, but are not a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Make repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker
  • Removes, cleans, reinstalls, or replaces defective parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, and fittings; bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines, work cable pulleys, frayed spark plug cables, and burned-out landing lights, using hand tools.
  • Makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension and seat movement settings and adjustments
  • Obtains standard parts such as fuel and oil line connections and fittings, cable linkage, and spark plug cables and harnesses by referring to parts manuals and by making comparisons with samples.
  • Services engines and aircraft components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul
  • Required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition
  • Required to perform inspections to include daily and turnarounds and post flight checks
  • Have full knowledge of aircraft related hazardous materials and their use.
  • Perform other job related duties as may be assigned.
