About The Position

The Power Plants Mechanic possesses a high degree of expertise in Power Plants related systems, tools, directives and components in the performance of engine troubleshooting, repairs and replacement on aircraft. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge and experience to solve Power Plant repair problems and provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction to employees in the Power Plants Mechanic classification and to others throughout the aviation team as required. May be required to perform Leadman duties when designated and authorized. The Power Plants Mechanic is directly accountable to Maintenance Control, Maintenance Supervisor with oversight from Work Center Leads.

Requirements

  • Must have successfully completed approved course or training as required by Company, State/Local Govt, DOD, regulation/Instruction.
  • Personnel shall be qualified according to their field of expertise and the level of maintenance assigned, i.e., “O” or “I” level.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Must be a US citizen and completed high school or equivalent.
  • Will have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy.
  • Maintain medical qualification and Pass respirator physical when directed by management.
  • Aircraft mechanics shall have three years experience in their specific aircraft maintenance occupational field. The last two years must have been as a practicing licensed FAA airframe and power plants mechanic; in the military (E-5 or above); civil service (WG-7-10), or with a government aviation maintenance Contractor.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be customer service oriented and possess the ability to communicate professionally, courteously and respectfully.
  • Basic data entry in computer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft engine/component troubleshooting using customer/OEM instructions.
  • Use engine test equipment as provided by the customer to troubleshoot and analyze engine operation in the aircraft.
  • Troubleshoot fuel leaks, remove and replace aircraft fuel cells.
  • Provide guidance to mechanics within the work center or special work group by sharing technical knowledge to enhance accomplishment of assigned tasks.
  • Evaluate condition of engine and dynamic components requiring inspections as a result of operation outside of established parameters.
  • Assist in the removal and replacement of aircraft engines utilizing appropriate support equipment.
