About The Position

An Aircraft Mechanic III maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty. This role involves maintaining and repairing aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. The mechanic applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and uses technical expertise to restore equipment to operational condition. They also apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer's manuals. Responsibilities include making entries in aircraft logs and records, providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians, servicing and lubricating aircraft and subsystems, preparing aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks, performing scheduled and limited special inspections, and performing limited maintenance operational checks and troubleshooting using special tools and test equipment. The role requires operator maintenance of tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment, and the application of comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting various technical data and documentation. Other qualified duties as assigned.

Requirements

Possess a valid up-to-date A&P license OR five years aviation maintenance experience, five years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS) (UH-60/AH-64/CH-47). All experience must be within the ten most recent years.
Mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.
Possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I.
Have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
Basic knowledge of electrical theory.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
Working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ULLSAE.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair.
Ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as cable tensiometers.
Provide own Tools/Toolbox. Tools must be shadowed in the toolbox and Etched with your PID.
High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.

Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications is a plus.

Performs other qualified duties as assigned.
Prioritizes workloads and leads teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
Participates in operation checks as required.
Maintains excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
