About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic III (LUH-72) A&P performs maintenance on helicopters, excluding repair of systems according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures. This role involves removing and installing aircraft subsystem assemblies, servicing and lubricating aircraft, preparing aircraft for inspections, performing scheduled and limited operational checks, and diagnosing/troubleshooting aircraft subsystems. The mechanic will use and maintain operator tools and ground support equipment, prepare maintenance forms and records, and perform preventive maintenance. Additional duties may be requested, and adherence to company policies and safety programs is mandatory.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Must have five years aviation maintenance experience, five years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years assigned to the MDS. All experience must be within the ten most recent years.
Valid up-to-date A&P license
Must provide own tools/toolbox. Tools must be shadowed in the toolbox and tools etched with PID. Recruiters will provide toolbox requirements to candidates upon selection. Minimum tool list and compliance of toolbox must be completed prior to start date.
Valid Driver’s License
Must be able to work, day shift, swing shift, night shift, and/or weekend shift (if applicable) – As required for CBA.
Must be eligible to obtain a Passport and be able to travel internationally (applicable to OCONUS work sites).
Must be able to work TDY assignments as applicable per the CBA.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems on the assigned MDS.
Advanced knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).
Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects
Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by aircraft mechanic.
Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
May be required to lift/push/pull heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.
Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.
Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.
Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.

Nice To Haves

U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired; certification of education level is required.

Responsibilities

Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems.
Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.
Performs limited maintenance operational checks and assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment as required.
Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.
Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft.
Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance.
Performs additional duties, including maintenance duties, as requested.
Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality)
