About The Position

Senior Technicians primarily interface between work center technicians and maintenance control, prioritizing workload to ensure aircraft availability for squadron Flight Schedule tasking. They are responsible for accomplishing Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Standard Operating Procedures requirements within their assigned areas and performing direct hands-on aircraft maintenance as needed or as directed by contractor Team Leads. These Senior Technicians act as working technical subject matter experts on the hangar deck, performing hands-on maintenance and assigning specific tasks to contractor personnel. They have the authority to direct work center personnel of equal or lesser level, providing guidance and technical expertise for aircraft modifications and maintenance. Some Senior Technicians may be assigned to Maintenance Control, where they will interact directly with flight crews, FTE’s, and other Contractor Senior Technicians, coordinating contractors to meet the daily Flight Schedule.

Requirements

Must have been released from military service with an Honorable Discharge.
Proficiency in the use of the Internet, personal computers, word processing, spreadsheet and graphics/presentation software, and other commonly used electronic communication tools.
Possess an extensive background in the field of aircraft maintenance and material support with a minimum of 15 years of experience.
10 years of the last 15 years of experience must be in direct aircraft maintenance repair, inspection, and modification.
Minimum of 10 years experience in ALSS leadership.
Six years of aircraft maintenance experience shall be in a supervisory position that included responsibility for assigning program workloads as well as duties for entire shifts.
High school graduate or equivalent, plus successful completion of related military or commercial courses.
Capable of writing with clarity and technical accuracy.
Ability to obtain/maintain secret security clearance.
Prior military Personnel with Aviation Ordnance, Parachute Rigger, and Aviation Maintenance Administration ratings will not be accepted to fill VX-31 Maintenance Control billets.

Responsibilities

Interface primarily between work center technicians and maintenance control.
Prioritize workload to ensure aircraft availability to meet squadron Flight Schedule tasking.
Accomplish CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Standard Operating Procedures requirements within assigned areas of responsibility.
Perform direct hands-on aircraft maintenance when required to meet mission needs or as directed by contractor Team Leads.
Act as working technical subject matter experts on the hangar deck level, performing hands-on maintenance actions.
Assign specific tasks to contractor personnel to meet operational needs.
Direct work center personnel, of equal or lesser level, to accomplish specific maintenance actions.
Provide guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
Deal directly with flight crews, FTE’s, and other Contractor Senior Technicians (if assigned to Maintenance Control).
Coordinate contractors within assigned groups in the accomplishment of the daily Flight Schedule (if assigned to Maintenance Control).
Ensure all available personnel participate in the daily foreign object damage walk downs.
Coordinate daily hangar/maintenance cleanliness/housekeeping issues.
