Senior Technicians primarily interface between work center technicians and maintenance control, prioritizing workload to ensure aircraft availability for squadron Flight Schedule tasking. They are responsible for accomplishing Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Standard Operating Procedures requirements within their assigned areas and performing direct hands-on aircraft maintenance as needed or directed by contractor Team Leads. These Senior Technicians act as working technical subject matter experts on the hangar deck, performing hands-on maintenance and assigning specific tasks to contractor personnel to meet operational needs. They have the authority to direct work center personnel of equal or lesser level to perform maintenance actions and provide guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians during aircraft modifications and maintenance. Some Senior Technicians may be assigned to Maintenance Control, where they will interact directly with flight crews, FTE’s, and other Contractor Senior Technicians, coordinating contractors to accomplish the daily Flight Schedule. They also ensure participation in daily foreign object damage walk downs and coordinate hangar/maintenance cleanliness and housekeeping.
