About The Position

Amentum is seeking a qualified Aircraft Mechanic II specialized in Line supervision to support U.S. Naval Air Station maintenance operations at NAS Whidbey Island. This role involves inspecting and performing organizational-level maintenance and modifications on EA-18G aircraft, sub-systems, support equipment, and related weapons systems. The mechanic will also advise and train team members on solving complex maintenance issues through analysis and testing of various aircraft systems, including missiles, airframes, engines, flight controls, pneudraulics, fuel, and electrical/electronic systems.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) years of actual and recent aircraft organizational-level experience.
Three (3) years of F/A-18E/F/EA-18G experience.
Three (3) years of CDI qualification and leadership.
F/A-18E/F/EA-18G fuel cell maintenance qualifications.
F/A-18E/F/EA-18G engine operation certification.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex malfunctions and perform complex Organizational Level Maintenance actions in support of the EA-18G aircraft.
Experience necessary to inspect all aircraft assigned, certify Aircraft/Engine Logbook entries.
Possession of one or more of the following specialties: Propulsion/Engine and Fuel Systems, ARS PODs Airframe/Structural, Landing Gear, Launch/Arresting, Wing/Pylon Fold Hydraulic/Pneumatic, and mechanical Flight Control Systems, Aviation Life Support Systems (ALSS), Power Distribution/Electrical Power, Instruments, Compass, Automatic Flight Control and Lighting Systems, Aircraft Armament, Line Corrosion.
Thorough knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft, missile, or wheeled and tracked vehicle maintenance.
Knowledge of theory and principles of engine operations, accessories and components, theory of flight, rigging of flight controls, electrical and electronic principles, and pneudraulic/mechanical principles.
Ability to read, interpret, and use manufacturers and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring/schematic diagrams, data tables, and other specifications.
Ability to inspect, repair, and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.
Possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license.
Ability to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
Ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Ability to meet physical requirements and pass any medical examination requirements.
Must have a secret clearance and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization.

Responsibilities

Service, repair aircraft, and aircraft engines to ensure serviceability.
Repair and replace aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants, fuel systems, and functional components using various tools.
Inspect and repair power plant (engine) malfunctions, including diagnosing issues, isolating causes, and correcting breaks.
Test engine operation using testing equipment to locate the source of malfunction.
Replace and repair damaged components, adjust, repair, or replace instruments, avionics, navigation, ADP flight control, electrical/electronic, fuel/oil systems, and aircraft accessories.
Perform aircraft services, including engine flush/cleaning, parts lubrication, and maintenance checks.
Perform repairs on the flight line operations to ensure aircraft safe operating condition, short of overhaul.
Specialize in repair and modification of engines, structural components, precision repair, functional spare parts, and assemblies.
Recommend revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and ensure quality workmanship.
Provide scheduled/unscheduled organizational maintenance support.
Inspect aircraft for tools and other foreign objects that could pose a risk to the aircraft or aircrew.
Inspect aircraft to certify that all maintenance performed by the team is correct and complete.
Perform inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, surface finish removal, corrosion control, and preservation/de-preservation services for aircraft and aeronautical equipment systems.
Perform administrative duties related to aircraft maintenance, such as preparing reports, filing, typing, performing data base and system analysis, and maintaining aircraft and engine logbooks.
Participate in emergency response drills, including flight deck/line and hangar firefighting, emergency reclamation and salvage drills, and aircraft movement drills.
Perform all other position-related duties as assigned, requested, or directed by local directives.
