Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum experience or military experience as aircraft airframes or sheet metal mechanic.
  • Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to pass a NACI which could include a credit check.

  • To be able to perform research, a working knowledge with the following is preferred: electronic publications like Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM), knowledge in navigating NATEC website to access Technical Publications, service bulletins, technical publications, blueprints, IPB (Illustrated Parts Breakdown), MIM (Maintenance Instruction), LES (Local Engineering Specifications), LPS (Local Process Specifications) and TEI (Temporary Engineering Instructions).

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of aircraft sheet metal duties including, but not limited to, disassemble, modify, repair, and reassemble complex aircraft metal items and systems, e.g., bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, wings, flaps, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets, and fuel tanks.
  • Analyze and evaluate structural damage to metal systems and items; develop patterns using a combination of parallel and radial line development; fabricate, install, and repair a variety of items and systems made from a wide variety of metals, e.g., stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb, alloys, aluminum; replace sections and patch old systems; cut, bend, shape, and form metals for items that have numerous irregular angles, planes, and curves with varying pitch and circumference; use a variety of assembly joints, complex fastening systems, riveted or welded joints, drill or punch holes; and assemble or repair items by seaming, soldering, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking, and spot welding.
  • Meet appearance and strength standards, as well as critical tolerances.
  • Perform Depot Level Maintenance on V-22 aircraft metal and composite parts.
  • Perform all duties associated with the Depot Level repair of V-22 aircraft components, to include propeller repair.
  • Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures and structural components of moderate to complex difficulty, including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatic, fuel systems and mechanical components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and discrepancies.
  • Apply required expertise in restoring aircraft component condition and/or operation.
  • Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, Local Engineering Instructions, and work orders in manufacturing aircraft sheet metal structures.
  • Manufacture and install new parts and reinforcing, patching, and replacing defective parts, applies accurate riveting techniques for proper spacing, fit, durability, structural soundness, and appearance.
  • Maintain qualifications in Advance Skills Management, attend or complete online mandatory training.
  • Assist in maintaining NAMP Programs, follow Ground Operating Procedures, and ensure compliance with established safety procedures.
