About The Position

Perform scheduled/unscheduled O-Level maintenance on specific applicable squadron T/M/S aircraft airframe, ordnance, power plants, corrosion control and painting, and related systems. This role involves maintaining and repairing aircraft engine systems, structures, and components of moderate difficulty, including flight controls, power plants, hydraulics, pneumatics, and fuel systems. The mechanic will apply technical knowledge to diagnose equipment malfunctions and use technical documentation like blueprints, maintenance manuals, and directives to solve complex problems. Engine Turn and Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) designated contractor personnel must be at a minimum Level II Mechanic. The role may involve leading teams through complex tasks, making entries in aircraft logs, and prioritizing workload to meet schedules and standards. Routine lifting exceeding OSHA standards and team lifts of up to 167 pounds for ordnance loading are required. Mechanics may be required to become Plane Captain certified.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years USN/USMC/USCG O-Level CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) aircraft maintenance support experience.
  • Not less than three years T/M aircraft maintenance experience for the T/M/S aircraft hired to maintain.
  • Two years of T/M/S Organizational Maintenance experience within the last seven years.
  • Experience as CDI, CDQAR, QAR
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Completed their appropriate T/M/S Navy Skill Specialty Class "C" school.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, T/M/S specific IMRL equipment, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
  • Working knowledge of technical publications, CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) and NALCOMIS aircraft maintenance applications.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Released from military service with an Honorable Discharge.

Responsibilities

  • Perform flight line essential services as directed to daily Flight Schedule.
  • Maintain and repair aircraft engine systems, structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.
  • Maintain and repair aircraft components flight controls, power plants and related systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, mechanical components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions.
  • Apply expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
  • Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints, applicable T/M/S specific maintenance manuals and directives.
  • Prioritize workload to maintain schedules and maintenance standards on assigned projects.
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
  • Receive technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician.
  • Occasionally lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
  • Make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Become Plane Captain certified IAW a Government approved certification process for each T/M/S applicable to their background experience and/or documented equivalent training to the applicable T/M/S they cross train to support.
