The Fuel Cell Aircraft Mechanic II is responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries. This role involves inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, and modifying fuel systems. Essential duties include draining fuel from tanks and cells, performing purge operations, removing and reinstalling components, and cleaning fuel cells. The mechanic will monitor the need for sealants and seals, inspect and repair aircraft fuel systems, and manage bench stock, shop stock, and Composite Tool Kits (CTK's). The position requires performing on and off equipment maintenance using maintenance instructions and technical data, providing specialized knowledge for difficult and major repairs, and documenting discrepancies in applicable forms and maintenance information systems. Ordering materials and supplies, ensuring compliance with safety, housekeeping, tool control, and FOD prevention programs are also key responsibilities. The role may require working various shifts (day, second, third, and/or weekend) and performing additional work center duties with provided training. Travel, including TDY, and maintaining training requirements are necessary.
