The Aircraft Mechanic I Structures is responsible for assessing aircraft damage and drafting repair procedures for aircraft structural and composite components. This role requires advanced metalworking practices and techniques to form, cut, bend, and fasten new or repair components to damaged structures. Proficiency in close tolerance drilling/reaming for the installation of high-strength fasteners and the ability to use powered and non-powered metalworking tooling and equipment are essential. The mechanic will also be responsible for inspecting components/repairs for structural serviceability, manufacturing jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds, and using shop drawing and metal layout techniques. Additionally, the role involves documenting maintenance, handling hazardous waste, operating support equipment, using automated maintenance systems, performing Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks, and maintaining strict tool control procedures. Compliance with safety rules and regulations is paramount, with prompt reporting of any accidents, injuries, or unsafe practices required. The Aircraft Structural Mechanic will perform other related duties as needed to meet the organization's ongoing needs.
