About The Position

Innovative Consulting & Management Services (ICMS) is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic I for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) for the Short-Range Recovery (SRR) Division. This role involves providing aircraft maintenance services, specifically focusing on the Program Depot Maintenance (PDM) process, which includes complete disassembly, cleaning, repair, repainting, and rebuilding of aircraft every four years. The mechanic will perform disassembly, maintenance, repair, inspections, and evaluations of various aircraft systems and structures on the SRR MH-65 aircraft. The position also includes performing other aircraft mechanical duties as needed, following work orders, maintaining tools and equipment, and potentially handling hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of aircraft related mechanical experience or an Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) certificate.
  • Ability to demonstrate work methods and techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of a wide variety of parts, components, and complex assemblies associated with aircraft systems.
  • Ability to rig, function test, or troubleshoot systems; determine when they are operating properly or whether portions of the system must be repaired or replaced; and the type and extent of adjustment and alignment needed.
  • Knowledge of the make-up, operation, installation, and adjustment of a variety of major interrelated and/or integrated aircraft systems, subsystems, and assemblies such as fuel and hydraulic systems, flight control systems, instrumentation systems, engine(s), landing gear assemblies, airframe, and control surfaces.
  • Skill in the use of standard and specialized tools and the equipment of the trade including fixtures, templates, scales, test stands and external power sources.
  • Skill in reading and understanding data and settings from cockpit instruments and gauges.
  • Knowledge of activity supply procedures to be able to initiate requisitions for needed parts and supplies.
  • Thorough knowledge of the publication order system to obtain the most up-to-date technical manuals and to propose changes to publications when discrepancies are found.
  • Ability to read, understand and apply trade or administrative guides such as technical manuals, technical orders, blueprints, sketches, and other related documents.
  • Capability to work in regulated areas with toxic materials present including hexavalent chromium and cadmium, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to follow appropriate safety procedures common to the trade.
  • Knowledge of specific hazardous materials and hazardous wastes procedures, including the proper fitting and usage of protective gear and completion of related training.
  • Skilled in the use of standard and specialized tools and the equipment of the trade including fixtures, templates, scales, test stands and external power sources.
  • Technical capability/experience with aircraft, airframes, components, and substructures, including maintenance of primary, secondary, and tertiary structures.
  • Technical capability to assist in PDM of USCG aviation assets.
  • Ability to conduct research using USCG data systems such as TMAPS, or similar type systems.
  • Technical capability to deal with aircraft upgrades and aging aircraft sustainment issues.
  • Experience with new component integration and developing repair or replacement strategies for airframes, components, and/or substructures.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Shall be citizens of the U.S.
  • Possess computer skills including basic knowledge sufficient to complete internet searches and prepare/edit documents utilizing word processing or spreadsheet applications.
  • Shall be capable of using cumbersome Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with OEM’s manuals or similar manuals with the ability to research maintenance history, procedures and component limitations is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting the Disassembly Phase of the PDM process, including complete disassembly of the aircraft and preparation for blast within six (6) workdays of receipt.
  • Routing of required parts throughout the Disassembly Phase, completed no later than nine (9) workdays of receipt of aircraft.
  • Performing other aircraft mechanical duties for the SRR Product Line and/or throughout Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) when Disassembly Phase is complete and prior to receipt of another aircraft.
  • Repairing and maintaining various mechanical, fuel, and hydraulic systems.
  • Performing flight line maintenance of assigned and transient operational aircraft, including functional testing, troubleshooting, and repairing all airframe mechanical systems.
  • Post assembly checkout, adjustment, and repair of overhauled and modified aircraft to prepare for and correct deficiencies found on functional flights.
  • Following work orders as assigned.
  • Checking a variety of complex technical guides to ensure they include up-to-date changes.
  • Reporting errors and poorly presented or confusing information to the COR.
  • Demonstrating or explaining proper techniques, method of operation, and safety practices.
  • Observing performance and working with employees, leaders, or supervisors to resolve problems.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area.
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Potentially transporting, storing, or using hazardous wastes and materials (HAZMAT) during operations.
  • Performing other Aircraft Maintenance duties as required.
  • Working independently and completing all repairs and modifications in a timely manner, with minimal rework or discrepancies noted.
