About The Position

Performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance according to applicable standards across the NASA fleet of aircraft, simulators, and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and associated payload systems. Comply with all mandated certification requirements, including safety training, guidance on local processes, and general project orientation. This position is temporary through 31 December 2026 to support the X59 project. Must be able to work 10-hour shifts Friday – Monday with possible overtime.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Requires a minimum of two years of aircraft maintenance experience with fixed wing commercial, Government or DOD aircraft.
  • Individual must have the communication skills required to interface and coordinate with the Operations engineers and other technically qualified personnel
  • Individual must be physically capable of working in confined spaces
  • Must be capable of performing physical labor including, walking, standing, lift up to 40 lbs., pulling, climbing up and down aircraft ladders and agility/dexterity to perform duties assigned.
  • Individual must be able to pass a NASA administered physical
  • Must possess a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification or obtain one within 1 year of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Use NASA’s automated maintenance data system (NAMIS) to maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions for all repairs to NASA assigned aircraft.
  • Performs maintenance on aircraft, including mechanical systems and/or ground support equipment (GSE).
  • Must be familiar with Engineering Work orders (EWO’s) and be able to complete required instructions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Remove, disassemble, repair, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble, and reinstall aircraft components and accessories.
  • Practice good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention in accordance with company and NASA policies and procedures.
  • Perform scheduled and un-scheduled aircraft maintenance inspections and repairs as required.
  • Perform aircraft ground support duties, including towing, marshalling and jacking aircraft.
  • Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance.
  • Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor.
  • Lessor or ancillary duties as assigned.
