LDAF Aviation currently has a fleet of 12 – 2003 Cessna 182T’s in various locations around Louisiana. The aircraft are primarily used for firefighting activities and may be used by all State Agencies, including the Office of the Governor. The aircraft are equipped with dual Garmin G5’s, Garmin 750 xi & 650 xi, TCAS, and various other upgrades over the years. Their airworthiness is critical to LDAF’s role in Louisiana. The incumbent will remain current on applicable aircraft manufacturers’ recommendations, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and aircraft maintenance discrepancies (squawks) relevant to departmental aircraft. The incumbent will monitor aircraft maintenance discrepancies and coordinate maintenance ferry flights when necessary. The incumbent will oversee vendor and contract maintenance activities, including traveling to vendor locations and outlying areas to inspect aircraft, conduct maintenance audits, and coordinate required maintenance and repairs. This position will research aircraft parts and maintenance services to identify appropriate vendors, obtain competitive pricing, and support cost-effective procurement. The incumbent will obtain and review quotes for aircraft maintenance, repairs, inspections, and parts; verify the accuracy and reasonableness of proposed costs; and obtain required funding and approvals prior to the commencement of work. The incumbent will also research and verify correct part numbers for aircraft airframes and engines and coordinate the shipment of parts to maintenance vendors, repair facilities, or State hangars as needed. Upon completion of contracted or outside maintenance, the incumbent will review and approve invoices and purchase orders to ensure charges are consistent with approved quotes and authorized work. The incumbent will submit required documentation for payment and maintain accurate maintenance and purchasing records. Additionally, the incumbent will serve as the Property Coordinator for aviation inventory, ensuring accountability and maintaining appropriate records for assigned aviation property and equipment. Candidates must meet FAR 65.83 recent experience requirements. The applicant shall have a minimum of 2 years of required experience as an aviation mechanic at the time of the application. Special consideration will be given to applicants who possess any of the following: FAR 65.91 - Possession of a Federal Aviation Administration Inspector's Authorization Cessna 182T maintenance experience Lycoming IO-540-AB1A5 engine maintenance experience Prior contacts with aviation maintenance facilities within Louisiana Any other certifications, training, or experience that relates to LDAF aircraft make & model. Applicants MUST attach a copy of the front and back of your FAA Mechanics Airframe & Powerplant Certificate, copy of your Inspection Authorization (if applicable), an authenticated copy from the technical school indicating your date of graduation and curriculum completed (certificate of completion), and if applicable, college transcripts to the employment application prior to the closing date of this job posting. An LDAF vehicle and LDAF fuel card shall be provided for transportation for work duties. The applicant must reside within a maximum of a 60-minute drive to their assigned work domicile (office). If applicable, LDAF shall reimburse the Inspection Authorization renewal after employment every 2 years. Cessna SER (Single Engine -1996 & On) Combined Maintenance Libraries will be provided.
