About The Position

Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Aviation invites applications for the position of Aircraft Maintenance Technician. The Aircraft Maintenance Technician reports to the Aircraft Maintenance Manager and performs or assists in preventative maintenance, maintenance, minor and major alterations, and rebuilding of an aircraft, airframe, piston-engine, propeller, appliance, part, and components. The role requires performing maintenance in a cost-conscious and safe manner, prioritizing the well-being of personnel using SE aircraft. The technician will exercise privileges authorized by the Administrator under FAR Part 65 and perform maintenance under the rules prescribed by FAR Part 43. Responsibilities include assisting in researching and logging applicable Airworthiness Directives and Service Letters/Bulletins, ensuring logbook entries and work orders are completed correctly, and providing on-the-job training to maintenance personnel as assigned. The position may require working after hours, on alternating Saturdays, and being on call 24/7 as scheduled. Other duties are assigned by management. The working conditions involve exposure to prevailing conditions when conducting maintenance outside SE's facilities. Job hazards include working in close proximity to running engines and propellers, with noxious/carcinogenic materials and chemicals, rotating machinery, power tools, high-pressure gases, in potentially confined areas, and lifting heavy objects.

Requirements

Minimum FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A & P) Mechanic Certified
Requires a minimum of 1,900 hours of instruction at an FAA approved maintenance and repair facility and received a passing grade on written, oral and practical exams.
Minimum of 30 months working under the supervision of an A & P Mechanic and receiving passing grades on written, oral, and practical exams.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance in a cost conscience and safe manner with the primary concern being the well-being of all personnel utilizing SE aircraft.
Exercise privileges as authorized by the Administrator under FAR Part 65.81, 65.85, 65.87, and 65.95.
Perform maintenance under the rules as prescribed under FAR Part 43.1, 43.2, 43.3., 43.5, 43.7, 43.9, 43.11, 43.13, 43.15, 43.15, 43.17, Appendix A, Appendix B, Appendix C, Appendix D, Appendix E, and Appendix F as required by FAR Part 91 Subpart C and Subpart E.
Assist in researching, complying with and appropriately logging all applicable Airworthiness Directives as prescribed by FAR Part 39 for all aircraft, engines, propellers, appliances, avionics, parts and components.
Assist in researching, complying with and appropriately logging all applicable Service Letters, Service information Letters, Service Bulletins and Critical Service Bulletins as they pertain to aircraft, engines, propellers, avionics, appliances, parts and components.
Assist in ensuring all logbook entries required by FAR Part 43.9 and FAR 43.11 are completed after maintenance prior to return to service.
Assist in ensuring the proper content and disposition of work orders after maintenance is performed.
Provide OJT to maintenance personnel as assigned by manager.
When necessary to complete maintenance in an accommodating manner, may be required to work after hours.
May be required to work on alternating Saturdays.
Required to be on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week as scheduled.
All other duties as assigned by the Aircraft Maintenance Manager, the ASI Director, or their designees.
