About The Position

The Aircraft Branch Flightline Supervisor provides senior-level oversight of aircraft maintenance operations in direct support of the 89th Airlift Wing’s executive airlift mission. This role involves formulating, managing, planning, and scheduling training for personnel to ensure proficiency in maintaining aircraft. The supervisor coordinates maintenance efforts to ensure mission-scheduled aircraft are Fully Mission Capable (FMC), reviews aircraft records for accuracy and completeness, and manages a significant flightline section including an expeditor team responsible for daily servicing, maintenance, and aircraft positioning. Emphasis is placed on safety, housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) awareness, and adherence to HAZCOM and HAZMAT programs. The position also involves reviewing quality assurance reports, managing aircraft documentation (781 forms and CAMS), assisting with parts requisition and repair, ensuring ground safety, managing continuous on-the-job-training (OJT), and providing performance reviews. The supervisor co-chairs scheduling meetings, works with Program Managers on compliance with service bulletins and airworthiness directives, and manages Programmed Depot Maintenance inputs. Duties may also include temporary duty (TDY), travel, and filling in for management roles. The role requires the ability to work various shifts, including days, second, third, and/or weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of applicable aircraft and general flightline maintenance.
  • A thorough working knowledge of applicable technical publications and ability to accurately interpret technical data are required.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant A&P Certification is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a flightline driver’s license.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and leadership ability are required.

Nice To Haves

  • A Lead Mechanic for line maintenance with a thorough understanding of the SAM mission, or Aircraft Branch Flightline Supervisor is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction to all assigned flightline personnel in coordination with the Aircraft Branch Manager, Production Supervisor, and maintenance training center.
  • Formulate, manage, plan and schedule training for personnel to become proficient in maintaining aircraft assigned to the 89AW.
  • Coordinate maintenance efforts with the production supervisor and Maintenance Operation Control Center (MOCC) to ensure all mission scheduled aircraft are Fully Mission Capable (FMC).
  • Review aircraft records to ensure required maintenance has been performed, hourly and calendar tracked events are current, and all associated documentation has been accurately completed.
  • Manage Flightline section consisting of 98 personnel and directly supervise an 18-man expeditor team of lead and senior mechanics that supervise all maintenance personnel on daily servicing, maintenance upkeep, cosmetic appearance (clean/wax interior and exterior), and accurately position SAM aircraft for launches.
  • Ensure personnel practice good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Ensure HAZCOM and HAZMAT pharmacy programs are followed according to the applicable directives.
  • Review, evaluate, and take corrective actions based on quality assurance and the contractor officer representatives (CORS) reports and ensures corrective measures are implemented to meet contract requirements, improve maintenance quality, and prevent the development of adverse trends.
  • Ensure aircraft 781 forms documentation and CAMS match.
  • Assist personnel in researching and requisitioning aircraft parts and components.
  • Ensure repairable parts are promptly processed through repair channels within the required time frame.
  • Ensure ground safety measures are observed in servicing and ground handling (towing/taxing) of all aircraft.
  • Manage continuous on-the-job-training (OJT) of maintenance personnel and new employees.
  • Review status of training program and manage the special certification roster.
  • Receive and assist in cross-utilization training (CUT) of subordinates and be qualified to perform maintenance tasks associated with other classifications.
  • Provide annual performance reviews for flightline personnel.
  • Co-chair weekly scheduling meetings, ensuring inspections, and scheduled maintenance are accomplished in an efficient, timely manner.
  • Work with the Program Managers to ensure compliance with Service Bulletins, Air Worthiness Directives, and any Special Modifications accomplished to assigned aircraft.
  • Coordinate and Manage all Programmed Depot Maintenance input, and return schedules to ensure return of Fully Mission Capable (FMC) status within the allotted time.
  • Perform other duties related to the occupational field as assigned, to include temporary duty (TDY) and travel assignments as required, fill in for the Aircraft Branch Manager, and SAM-4 when required.
  • Must be able to work, dayshift, second shift, third shift, and/or weekend shift as required.
